Lipidomics and data integration
Scientific question
Which lipids and fatty acids are found in the components of oil-producing plants? Which environmental factors influence oil production? What is the role of the plant proteome in oil production? Which transcripts, proteins and lipids are co-expressed and what are the relationships between them? All these questions and many more are hardly explored for most of the plants.
Approach
In this project, biological networks and algorithms are used and developed to analyze data from plant lipidomics and link them to proteomic data (multi-omics integration, data mining, network biology) in order to address the above-mentioned questions.
Expected results
The evaluation of the fragment spectra provides complex structurally accurate plant lipidomes. These provide insights into the above-mentioned questions on lipid metabolism and the influence of environmental factors in oil and edible plants.
