Ingrid Kögel-Knabner, Prof. Steffen Schrettl gave an overview about the history and structure of the School. Prof. Senthold Asseng and Prof. Dietmar Zehn presented a selection of research fields. The Princess was then able to see the practical side of the work on campus: Claudia Luksch, Prof. Kang Yu and Prof. Heinz Bernhardt explained the research using examples from the agricultural sciences such as a field robot, the climate chambers, and a drone.
Afterwards, the delegation went to BayBioMs to discuss health and food of the future with Prof. Corinna Dawid and Prof. Dirk Haller. This was followed by a stop at the Food and Agro Center for Innovation and Technology (FACIT), where Prof. Arne Skerra and Dr. Roman Werner explained the activities of the FACIT and how the TUM Venture Lab Food / Agro / Biotech (FAB) supports students. This support became immediately apparent when students presented their start-ups.
The event concluded with a tour of the Weihenstephan Research Center for Brewing and Food Quality, led by Dr. Martin Zarnkow, and a tasting of a non-alcoholic beverage made from black Thai rice.
