The Science Dating was organized jointly by the Bavarian State Research Institute for Agriculture (LfL), Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (HSWT) and the Technical University of Munich (TUM). The Bavarian State Research Institute for Forestry (LWF) complemented the range of participating research institutions. The focus of the event was on the exchange between researchers. This provided a unique opportunity to share knowledge and experience across different disciplines. Scientists from the fields of agricultural sciences, food and nutrition, environmental sciences, and forestry came together to learn from each other and discover common interests. " The Science Dating strengthens the agricultural campus, because all major challenges for agriculture, such as climate change, resource protection or animal welfare, can only be solved across disciplines and in cooperation between research and practice," says Dr. Annette Freibauer, Vice President Knowledge at the LfL.
Science Dating: A successful pilot event
The interdisciplinary exchange between the organizations proved to be extremely fruitful and inspiring. The expertise of HSWT, LfL and LWF in the field of applied research complemented perfectly with the research power of TUM, one of Europe's leading technical universities. "I am excited about the initiative that was launched by LfL, LWF, HSWT and TUM. The first Science Dating in Freising has shown that interdisciplinary exchange forms a fruitful basis for future innovations and advances in science. Together we can tackle the major challenges in agriculture and pave the way for cutting-edge research," says Prof. Christoph Moning, Vice President Research and Knowledge Transfer at HSWT. These words reflect the general enthusiasm of the participants, who agreed that Science Dating has created a platform for future innovations and advances in science.
Fruitful cooperation in research
Prof. Senthold Asseng, scientific director of the Hans Eisenmann Forum for Agricultural Sciences at TUM, emphasized the importance of collaboration: "The exchange of ideas and knowledge between our research institutions is priceless. This opens up the possibility for collaborative research projects and helps to grow our knowledge base."

Since the end of 2022, HSWT, LfL and TUM have been working closely together in the "AgroMissionHub", through which jointly conducted research projects are applied for. This bundling of competencies across institutions, locations, focal points, and methods is unique and lays the foundation for joint cutting-edge research.
